Turkey’s stock exchange closed on February, 8, for five days, for the first time in 24 years.
The decision to close trading in equities, future contracts and options, was a consequence of a panic among investors during the strongest earthquake in the past 100 years.
The benchmark Borsa istanbul 100 Index has lost 16% within 3 days before closing the stock exchange, losing almost 35 billion USD from share values.
