According to official data of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), at the end of June 2021 in Poland were employed 818 772 foreigners. That is an increase of 35,2% compared to the previous year. In this number 58.8% were employees, 2.8% ran a business, the rest were covered by other forms of employment.

The foreigners have a positive impact on the labour market in Poland. Also, the pandemic had no impact on the employment of foreigners. According to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the employment of foreigners results mainly from the lack of Polish candidates for the offered job.

Poland’s unemployment rate stood at 5.4% in December 2021. The number of unemployed people fell to 895 thousands, the lowest since December 2019. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was higher at 6.2%. In the long-term, the Poland unemployment rate is projected to trend around 5.40% in 2023.
